›Is Lokale really free?
Yes. Booking and managing meeting rooms costs nothing: no license, no per-user pricing, no expiring trial. The only thing we charge for is optional hands-on help, for example if you want us to set up your building, rooms and companies for you.
›How quickly can we get started?
Minutes. You answer four questions, click the confirmation link we email you, and your building is live on its own address. During unusually busy periods a request can be held briefly for a manual review, and we then handle it the same day whenever possible.
›Where is our data stored?
In Europe. The application runs in Frankfurt, Germany, the database lives in Zurich, Switzerland, a country covered by the EU's adequacy decision, and email is delivered from Ireland. We use no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics.
›Can other companies in our building see our meetings?
They can see that a room is busy, because that is the point of a shared calendar. They cannot see the title of your meeting or who attends. That separation is enforced by access rules in the database itself, so the interface cannot leak it.
›Do we need to install anything?
No. Lokale runs in the browser on any computer or phone. Bookings arrive as standard calendar invitations, and a personal calendar feed keeps Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook up to date automatically.
›How do people in our building get access?
By invitation from an administrator, or automatically: if your company registers its email domain, colleagues can sign themselves up with their work email. There is no public signup, so outsiders cannot create accounts in your building.
›How do the QR codes at the door work?
Each room gets a printable QR code. Anyone standing at the door can scan it to see whether the room is free right now and book the next 15, 30 or 60 minutes without logging in. The code exposes only that room's busy times, never names, titles or anything else in the building.
›Can we leave and take our data with us?
Yes. Ask us and we delete your building and everything in it, or provide an export first. Your bookings already live in your own calendars through the invitations and feeds, so nothing is locked in.
